Introduction We present a case of 15 year-old boy diagnosed with Unspecified Personality and Beheavioral Disorder Due to Brain Damage from Human Herpes Virus-6 Encephalitis. Objectives To describe an Organic Behavioral secondary brain damage (HHV-6) Encephalitis in 11 childand review recent literature, order improve clinical practice. Methods Clinical report brief literature. A bibliographic research was made the database PubMed, using terms “Viral Encephalitis” AND “Neuropsychiatric symptoms”; “Behavioral Disorder”; “Long-Term Neurological Morbidity” Encephalitis”. Results Encephalitis, immunosupression context haematopoietic progenitor transplantation (HPT) at years old. MRI showed supratentorial ventriculomegaly, atrophic changes encephalon right hippocampus subcortical retraction previous encephalitis. Clinically, main appeared behavior, presenting serious frontal syndrome high disinhibition, what implied severe social academic difficulties. During outpatient follow-up, behavioural disorder is being pharmacologically treated Risperidone 1,5mg per day partially favorable evolution. The patient presented intolerance olanzapine, episode low level conciuosness after taking it. Bibliographic results indicate that gold standard treatment for behavioral disturbances are antipsychotics. Risperdidone proven save children. point out also importance early multidisciplinar intervention, involving family training, rehabilitation resources curricular adaptations. Image: Image 2: Conclusions Viral encephalitis may have neuropsychiatric consequences, especially during childhood while development not finished. When neurological affects lobes brain, personality expected intervention should be considered.
